Neila Ben Ayed

Neila Ben Ayed is a Montreal artist of Tunisian origin. She graduated from the University of Montreal and the École Polytechnique in design, industrial engineering and planning. She also continued her artistic training at the University of Montreal.
Since winning first prize in the Vues d'Afrique 2003 international poster competition in Montreal, she has had more than 200 individual and group exhibitions in Canada, Tunisia, the United States, Italy, Morocco and France. She has been represented by several galleries in Canada and has exhibited in New York, at the United Nations, at the Venice Biennale, at the Carlo Bilotti Museum in Rome, at the Bardo Museum and at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tunis. His recent exhibitions have taken place in prestigious places in Quebec such as the Palais Montcalm and the National Assembly.
Numerous prizes and distinctions have highlighted the excellence of her work, in particular an honorable mention from the foundation "Arab Women who have distinguished themselves in Quebec" for her contribution to the influence of cultural communities in Quebec in the field of art. and culture.
She has also been selected for several projects artistic such as the Rallye-exhibitions of Vues d'Afrique in Montreal, the plastic arts grand prize of the city of Tunis and the IMAGO MUNDI contemporary art project of Benetton in Rome. Some of his works have been broadcast nationally and internationally and have been featured on the cover of the Montreal cultural guide "Le guide culturel à l'annonce".
Neila Ben Ayed has also curated exhibitions, notably at the Musée de la Rotonde de la Casa d'Italia in Montreal with the great Quebec painter and sculptor Armand Vaillancourt and in Tunis as part of Tunisian-Canadian artistic exchanges.
ARTISTIC APPROACH
Neila Ben Ayed's artistic universe is halfway between figuration and abstraction, using both geometric and spontaneous forms, as well as mixed techniques of painting, digital art and collage. His creative process is multi-step and uses different mediums and supports.
Neila Ben Ayed expresses the universe of the free, independent and proud woman. His recent works delve into the depths of human identity and explore how lived experiences influence who we are. She uses layering and collage techniques to visually represent the idea that our different identities layer on top of each other over time.
The artist seeks to recall the importance of finding a balance between the different parts of oneself to achieve a feeling of inner harmony, which can be a challenge.
